Directorate General Industries, Prices, Weights & Measures

The Directorate General Industries, Prices, Weights & Measures (DGIPWM) is responsible for the planned growth of industries under the Punjab Industries (Control on Establishment & Enlargement) Ordinance 1963. Moreover, ensuring fair transactions of trade under the Punjab Weights and Measures (International System) Enforcement Act 1975, is also an important function of the directorate.

The other functions include: sale of essential commodities at notified rate under the Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering & Hoarding Act, 1977, Fortnightly notification of poultry feed under the act ibid and regulation of boilers and pressure vessels under the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance 2002.

  • Under the umbrellas of Ease of Doing Business, all NOCs / certificates issued by the DG office have been automated and are readily available for the public via the digital apps as well as service at E-Khidmat Marakaz all over Punjab.
  • Regularization of Sugar Mills who had enhanced crushing capacity illegally. 34 such cases have been successfully processed.
  • 4.66 Billion Rupees deposited in Govt. treasury as a result of regularization of Sugar Mills.
  • 53 cases of cement plants have been processed by the DG office and 16 NOCs have been issued by the Government of Punjab.
  • Adoption of E-Pay method for collection of verification fee of Commercial Weights and Measures Will increase transparency, enhance service delivery and reduce cash handling. Rs 187 Million have been collected till date via the E-Pay mode.
