Punjab Board of Investment and Trade Achievements and Scope of Work
Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) is dedicated to consistently showcasing and promoting investment opportunities originating from both public and private entities across various key sectors in Punjab. PBIT has witnessed an expansion of its scope due to a significant upswing in investment activities across multiple sectors. Notably, the Transactions, Domestic Commerce & Trade, Facilitation, and P&PR wings have considerably broadened their horizons recently, thereby attracting an ever-widening pool of international investors.
PBIT has been instrumental in the establishment of Punjab Chambers of Commerce Coordination Committee (PCCCC), which has its Secretariat situated within the premises of PBIT. Other noteworthy achievements include the formulation of the Punjab Investment Trade Promotion Strategy for 2023-2026, the development of the Punjab Investment Catalogue for 2022, and the creation of a comprehensive Compendium of Trade encompassing 68 global economies. Additionally, PBIT has been actively engaged in enhancing Pakistan's EXIM Basket and forging strategic connections with foreign missions in countries such as the USA, China, the UK, Iran, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, France, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Australia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
PBIT has actively engaged in processing applications and verifying proposals submitted to the SEZA Secretariat, resulting in the recent approval of 8 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Punjab with a cumulative economic impact of USD $300 million on both Punjab and the national economy. The collective efforts of the PBIT team have led to a total investment facilitation of USD $635 million from July 2022 to June 2023 under the visionary leadership of the CEO of PBIT.
PBIT has also orchestrated the successful organization of business forums, such as Pak-Medica, which boasted 171 engagements. As part of its key business development initiatives, PBIT is diligently collaborating with private sector Printing & Packaging Associations, TEVTA Punjab, PCSIR Pakistan, LCCI, National Textile University Faisalabad, and PSIC Punjab to propose and develop data-driven, technology-backed proposals for the declaration of Industrial Status to the Printing and Packaging sector through the Provincial Cabinet of Punjab.
PBIT participated in Pakistan's 1st Food & Agri Expo 2023, organized by TDAP/Ministry of Commerce Pakistan in Karachi. An outstanding achievement was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Syngenta Pakistan and CMEC China, an endeavor that was solely matched, facilitated, and supported by the Team PBIT, culminating in a collaboration valued at over USD 20 million.
